THE CONTEXT —
An established, fast-growing leader in premium tile, Tilebar prides itself on offering a carefully curated selection of premium products to design-savvy customers. Partnering with Pattern to reimagine and elevate their brand, we worked together to craft a new identity system that reflects the sophistication, design acumen, and product quality that have made them a favorite among designers and homeowners alike. The goal: evolve the identity, voice, and visual system to meet the expectations of a more discerning, design-centric customer and create a brand that signals leadership in a competitive and increasingly premium market.


A COMPREHENSIVE IDENTITY SYSTEM EVOLUTION —
At the heart of our work was translating Tilebar's market position into a confident, ownable visual language. We developed a comprehensive design manifesto built on five core principles: confident, bold, modern, clean, and dynamic.
We evolved the existing logo with subtle but meaningful refinements: slightly less condensed letterforms for improved readability, a lighter weight for contemporary appeal, and varied stroke widths that added a human touch without sacrificing the professional edge. The result feels both authoritative and approachable—a balance critical for a brand serving discerning customers making significant investment decisions.
The typography system centers on Manrope, deployed with distinctive treatments that make Tilebar instantly recognizable. Oversized headlines, strategic mid-word line breaks, and dimensional layering create a visual tension that reinforces Tilebar’s design-forward perspective while remaining clean and accessible.


VISUAL, VERBAL, VISCERAL —
Tilebar’s new voice speaks confidently but without ego: knowledgeable, dynamic, and warm. We developed core messaging pillars like Expertise, Innovation, and Passion, that anchor the tone in a confident and authoritative space: speaking from a position of knowledge and curation while remaining warm and consultative. We avoided industry jargon in favor of clear, design-forward language that empowers customers to make confident decisions.across every channel. From taglines to editorial copy, the brand now carries a consistent, authoritative presence.
To help drive scalable consistency across multi-platform creative execution, we established a disciplined photography system built around motion, shadow, and texture. We established comprehensive photography guidelines that prioritize four key attributes: artistic compositions that elevate the product, dynamic angles that capture movement and energy, emotional resonance that creates connection, and sensorial qualities that highlight texture and craftsmanship. Product shots feature crisp, dramatic lighting and clean compositions. Lifestyle imagery remains elevated but approachable, designed to evoke emotion and allow viewers to imagine tile in their own spaces.

ITERATVE COMMERCE-LED BRAND APPLICATION —
With the brand identity system established, the Pattern team worked closely with Tilebar's internal team to scale the new visual language across their e-commerce platform. This wasn't a wholesale redesign but rather a thoughtful, iterative approach that allowed us to implement the rebrand strategically while maintaining business continuity.
We collaborated to identify high-impact touchpoints like homepage hero treatments, category pages, product detail pages, and key landing pages, where the new brand identity could make an immediate impression. Working in phases, we provided art direction, design specifications, and hands-on support to ensure that as each element was updated, it adhered to the new brand guidelines while integrating seamlessly with Tilebar's existing technical infrastructure and ecommerce requirements, particularly around their sampling program.
This collaborative, incremental approach allowed us to test, learn, and refine as we went, ensuring that the new identity not only looked beautiful but performed effectively in driving engagement and conversions. The result is a digital experience that feels cohesive and premium, with the new brand identity shining through at every key moment in the customer journey.
