Awards are great. But they're not our only measure of success.

At the start of 2021 we met as a team and created a vision around design principles, communication, and collaboration. Together we crafted the key goals and intentions we wanted to achieve—as individuals and as an agency—for Pattern’s internal culture, our work with clients, and our impact on the world.

Fast forward 10 months and 12 projects, and we’ve far exceeded any expectations we could have dreamed up...

But the success of our agency is not defined by a trophy case of awards, or a number in our bank account. It’s defined by the health of our culture, our pride in the work we create for clients, and the stoke we feel coming into work each day.

Pattern started as an idea we had four years ago, a vision of an agency without egos, a home for talented creatives determined to deliver differentiated, strategic results for excellent clients. We’re stoked with the traction and recognition we’ve earned so far, but more importantly we’re proud of the healthy culture we’ve maintained. We pour our energy into this work, and in exchange we get to do good work with people we genuinely care about.

Every single team member brings a unique perspective to the culture we’re building, whether it’s Jenny keeping us current with her monthly “culture drops,” Lola asking questions like a journalist, or Johanna keeping the wheels turning with her perfectionist-level approach to project management. 

Clients are another core ingredient to our success. While we continue to focus on building differentiated digital experiences for founder-led brands, this year we’ve been invited to collaborate on projects with some high-profile personalities, including a few household names.

Celebrity clients may sound like a departure from our usual founders, but some things remain constant. Most importantly, each new client shares our values and commitment to doing good for the environment and society. Whether we’re working in apparel, mental and physical health, skincare, or beauty, or with consumer technology disruptors, we love being part of an ecosystem of brands that stand for more than just profit.

It’s an honor for our clients to trust us with their businesses and their livelihoods. We take that responsibility seriously & we’ve produced our best work because of it. 

A few moments that make us proud:

  • When Natreve’s founder briefed us by saying, “Just go crazy and design something different and good. We trust you.” Our team stepped up to the challenge and won multiple awards for our brand experience, content strategy, and design work.
  • When an exec from Jonathan Van Ness’ team thanked us for our teamwork on the launch of his new brand, JVN Hair: “We appreciate the partnership with Pattern very much. We had an outstanding first day and a record-breaking launch. Thank you for your passion, dedication, and teamwork.”
  • When a leader at sustainable women’s clothing brand Amour Vert praised us for our redesign of their digital experience: “During our project together Pattern dealt with a high-level of ambiguity as our brand was in the middle of a pivot. After a year like this people often ask, “What’s next?” And the best answer we can give is more of the same. More strong communication, holding ourselves to a high level of creative work, and continuing to push ourselves to think differently and to take creative risks. The more we learn, the more we realize what we don’t yet know, and that’s the exciting part. We’re stoked to continue growing, staying flexible and open to change, and to keep working alongside excellent clients and team members who inspire us every single day.
