Inspired by people who want the best for their families while also wanting to maximize their parenting or caretaking experience, Magnetic Me was created to balance out the ups and downs of parenthood and beyond. Less time to get them dressed and less spills while breastfeeding means more time for what you love — little daily wins that make a big, joyful difference.

With a new brand update rolling out and world-class collaborations with iconic brands like Disney and Warner Bros. in the pipeline, Magentic Me chose Pattern to redesign, rebuild and reimagine their ecommerce experience through the lens of community and parenthood with a child-like wink of whimsy.

SOLID TECHNICAL FUNDAMENTALS MEETS SOFT & PLAYFUL UX —

Magnetic Me came to Pattern with a site that no longer reflected the strength of its brand or the innovation behind its products. With opportunities to level up the customer experience across UX, visual storytelling and front-end technology innovation, our teams worked closed to craft a new ecommerce site that would tell the full story of what made Magnetic Me special while solving some of the core issues confronting the team:

• A dated experience in both look and layout that wasn't visually driven, and didn't offer any depth of navigation or exploration
  
  
• No real UX emphasis around Magnetic Me's differentiated product line and its key magnetic enclosure feature
  
  
• Laggy front end code that slowed the site down and affected conversion and customer perception of the brand
  
  
• Product data that made it difficult to dynamically merchandise and storytell at the product detail level

GEARING UP FOR A NEW ERA OF GROWTH  —

Our overall experience design approach was aimed at driving the most valuable customer interactions while using the appropriate mix of UX, UI and interaction design to breathe life into the newly refreshed Magnetic Me brand identity.

To do this while improving core KPI's like conversion rate, AOV, and driving retention through Magnetic Me's new loyalty program (powered by Yotpo), we crafted an experience that intentionally encourages more exploration via scrolling and swiping — giving customers a much more complete understanding of the product offering and key features through a comprehensively improved user experience.

The technical execution leveraged a combination of custom theme tooling utilizing the extensive modularity and scalabilit of the Pattern Theme Framework along with a balance mix of custom features and app integrations:

• A combination of the Combined Listings app and the View Transitions API was implemented to avoid product page refesh issues across product title, description, gallery and down-page content when selecting PDP swatches
  
  
• Deeply modular and scalable merchandising sections for easier, more creative and extensible options for manual merchandising (which still outperforms automated merchandising site-wide)
  
  
• Implementation of custom developed "hard bundles" and custom development on top of the Bold Bundles Shopify app to enable different levels of bundling that are fully controllable and configurable by the Magnetic Me merchadising team
  
  
• Babylist "Add To Registry" integration on product detail pages to support brand recognition and long-tail sales outside of the DTC experience
  
  
• In-cart gift wrap and gift messaging options
